Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica

Purpose:
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and Portuguese and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies.

The Fernando Botero Chapter was established in Paxon School for Advanced Studies this year 2012.
Requirements
Application Process:
1. Open and read the expectation of the SHH member, and the signature page. Then complete the online application, and submit the documentation by September 2nd at 3:00 pm in room 102. Documentation must be turned in Room 102.
2. Applications will be reviewed and students will be notified in writing of the decision by the following week. Once students are notified, students will owe a fee of $20 to be paid by due date. Students will pay $10 the second year. Tshirts are available to purchase for $10 dollars.
3. Once students have been accepted, they must attend meetings and comply with required tutoring hours or contribution to current projects. Please see the expectations documents.

Requirements
- Be a junior or a senior. Please keep in mind that in order to remain in the HHS until your senior year, you have to be enrolled in a Spanish class.
- Have successfully completed two levels of Spanish prior to the current year.
- Have been enrolled in a Spanish course this school year.
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative average unweighted of all Spanish courses taken from 9th grade to the present. Please keep in mind that if at any point your cumulative average drops, you will not longer be able to continue in the HHS.
- Have a behavioral record free from suspension, academic dishonesty, and/or inappropriate behavior.
